Gaëlle Raymaekers holds a Master’s Degree in Law, which she earned magna cum laude in 2019 from the Université Catholique de Louvain.
Passionate about European and international law, she pursued a minor in European studies during her Bachelor’s and a Human Rights elective and professional focus on European law during her Master’s.
To complete her academic training, Gaëlle went on a six-month Erasmus placement to Vienna during the second year of her Master's. Over the course of her studies, she was active in various social projects (notably youth movements, the Louvain-la-Neuve student orchestra and kot-à-projet). She was always very interested in national and international current events.
Gaëlle Raymaekers also completed courses in immigration law provided by the ADDE (Association pour le droit des étrangers) from October to December 2019.
Admitted to the Brussels bar in October 2019, she completed her internship with Catherine de Bouyalski’s team. She practices primarily in the following areas:
- private international law and international family law (applicable laws and courts with jurisdiction in family matters, recognition of foreign judgements or certificates in Belgium, marriage, denial of marriage license, refusal to issue a certificate of non-impediment to marriage, divorce, marriage annulment, exercise of parental authority, establishment and contesting of parentage, domestic and international adoption, etc.)
- immigration law (family reunification, humanitarian and medical stays, visas, residence for European Union citizens, workers, students, acquisition and recovery of citizenship, asylum, subsidiary protection status, etc.)
In her practice, Gaëlle greatly favours the use of alternative conflict resolution methods. She is convinced of the benefits of these techniques which put clients first.
