Anastasia Maxwell-Lawford holds a master’s degree in law, which she obtained with honours, cum laude, in 2020 from the Université Catholique de Louvain. Captivated by European law and international law, she followed the courses of European studies during her bachelor’s degree and dedicated her master’s degree in European law. She also studied public international law and human rights. Wishing to acquire an interdisciplinary approach to European law, she furthered her academic background with a complementary master’s degree in European integration, which she obtained magna cum laude, from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, in 2021.
During her academic path, Anastasia Maxwell-Lawford took part in different projects (such as scouts and ELSA – European Law Students’ Association), she also wrote her thesis in the framework of the Rosa Parks’ legal clinic for human rights, and in 2020, studied human rights at the Academy for Human Rights organized by Amnesty International. Furthermore, during the second year of her master’s degree in law, she did an internship in an organization specialized in immigration law in Brussels, SIREAS (Service de Recherche, d’Education, et d’Action Sociale) during which she was introduced to the practical aspects of immigration law.
Anastasia Maxwell-Lawford was admitted to the Brussels Bar in October 2021. She has started her traineeship in the law firm Altea, in the team specialized in immigration law and international family law, under the supervision of Céline Verbrouck and Catherine de Bouyalski. She primarily practices immigration law, nationality law, international private law, and international family law.
